The Pastor’s Corner
Summertime is coming and brings great opportunities for our church. We will welcome and enjoy the Youth Choir from
High Attendance Sunday and Graduate Recognition Sunday June 13. Call your class members and invite someone to Sunday school for an emphasis on our Bible Teaching Ministry we call Sunday School.
We are proud of three of our young people graduating from high school this year. We will congratulate them in this service and hear of their plans for the future. They are all high quality people and I look forward to hearing how God will use them in the future. I thought of the lines from Longfellow celebrating their different personalities:
But the great Master said, “I see
No best in kind, but in degree;
I gave a various gift to each,
To charm, to strengthen, and to teach.”

July 4th comes on a Sunday this year. Let’s celebrate our personal freedom and our spiritual freedom on this Sunday. The dress code suggestion for the day is appropriate casual dress in an patriotic color. We will reach out to neighbors and friends for a good day to worship.
Remember the church budget as we head through the summer. We have some work to do to catch up with our expenses for the year. Your good spirit and God’s faithfulness are the foundation we need for a good year.

From Our Minister of Children, Youth and Young Adults
School is almost over, summer is almost here, and vacation is in sight! It is a time to take a break from the business of life, and maybe even get a change of pace. During this time it is important to remember that not only do our bodies and minds need to relax, but our spirits need rest too. How often do we ask God to just be in His presence? How often do we slow down enough to sit in the stillness and peacefulness of our Lord? I encourage you to be near your Creator, and find rest and healing in His love and grace! In the book “Captivating” it says, “In the spacious love of God, our souls can lie down and rest”.
Psalm 46: 10 “Be still, and know that I am God”

At our Business meeting last month our pastor let us know that some changes in the budget may be necessary to keep us afloat if things don’t do a turn around. According to our numbers above, we are not seeing that happen at all. Each month we wink deeper in the hole. If it helps anyone become a more faithful timely giver, I let bill pay send my check for me each month. That way I never miss a chance or week to give to our church. Maybe you would consider doing this. (set up some type of automatic payment)
O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you, my soul thirsts for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you, I will praise you as long as I live and in your name I will lift up my hands Psalm 63: 1-3

Do You Know Who Cleans our Church Building each Week?
We have a contract with Coverall Cleaning Company to clean the building for us. They have assigned a very nice gentleman whose name is Willie Jackson to come to Skipwith each week. Willie is a former state trooper. He is also a former weight lifter. This he had to give up after a recent back surgery. Willie is also a chauffeur for one of the Judges here in
If you are ever at the church on Friday, say hello to Willie and thank him for cleaning our church!

High Attendance Day in Sunday School
Our Sunday School Director and staff have set-aside Sunday, June 13th as High Attendance Day in Sunday School.
This will be a good time to check over your class roll and contact those members who have not been coming lately. Urge them to come back! Go out and invite your neighbors and co-workers to join you in Bible study on Sundays, Let’s fill the classrooms to overflowing on the 13th.
Library News
We are starting a new chapter with the church library. This chapter promises to be full of excitement, reorganization and updating. We will learn of the characters we know and love, as well as new characters who are learning along the way.
As the current chapter comes to a close, we will all be confronted with patience, suspense, and transition. With this chapter closing, the library also will need to temporarily close beginning June 7 and it would be helpful if any checked-out materials could be returned by June 6. Hopefully, this will not be for too long and the new chapter will begin soon. Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition.

What changes we would love to make -- in others’ lives for Jesus’ sake!
But first we must learn at His feet -- the things that will make us complete.
