The Pastor’s Corner

We are looking forward to a fantastic fall here at Skipwith Baptist Church. Our hearts are expectant for God’s leading and blessings for the days to come.

Sunday Morning Worship:

We will focus on the nature and role of faith as we worship together this fall. Two Sundays will be different but special.

September 9 Grandparents Day: A Service of How to Pray for People You Love.

October 7 Men’s Day Aaron Lee, Disaster Relief coordinator for the Virginia Baptist Board.

October 14   Dr. Mark Jordan – while Cheryl and I are away celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, a good friend Dr. Mark Jordan will be our guest. Mark has recently concluded a 31 year ministry at the Iron Bridge Baptist Church to concentrate on writing and speaking. He is a fine preacher. Don’t miss hearing Mark.

October 21   Sunday afternoon and evening Skipwith will serve as the host church for the fall meeting of the River City Faith Network. It is a pleasure to welcome our friends from the Baptist churches in the Richmond area for this meeting.

Check out the dates and topics for these intriguing services.

Mission Action for September

During this month we are collecting small bags of rice and canned tuna for the Lighthouse International Church.

If you would like to help, bring your donations and leave them in the Sunday School Office.

In September, we will have the Week of Prayer for state missions and you will have the opportunity to give a special gift for the Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions. Alma Hunt was a Virginian who was known worldwide for her missions service and her unswerving dedication to the cause of Christ.

You will receive a prayer guide in your worship bulletin on Sunday, September 16 which will help you in your prayer time for this good cause of other Virginia Baptist as they share the love of Christ.

Remember! We are having a yard sale here at the church in October. You can help us by donating good things which you no longer need for our sale. You may bring them now and place them in the room across from our Youth Room downstairs.

New Church Directory

New directories of our membership are available for you. If you would like a copy see Pauline in the church office, check your information in the directory and let us know if changes need to be made.

The River City Faith Network will hold its annual meeting at Skipwith Baptist Church on October 21, 3:30 – 5:30. If you would like to represent our church at this meeting, please let Pastor Chambers know.
