The Scripture Lesson to be read responsively Dr. Chambers
Deuteronomy 15:1; Galatians 6:2; Acts 20:35; 1John 3:17
There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
This is the word of God for the people of God.
Thanks be to God.

Go now in peace to love God and help your neighbor.

But to do justice,
And to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God.
Amen.
